On the way up the hill if you could call it
that, leading to the center of the village of Cologny, village on account of it
being too small, Victor noticed a blue Alfa Romeo that he saw this morning when
going to the bank. Then, he suddenly remembered that he saw the same Alfa
yesterday. Are some people tailing him? Speeding up the small circuitous street
leading to the village, Victor arrived at the roundabout in the center of the
Village, where going left will bring you to the Castle on Route de La Capite
and turning right will lead you in the back country; where after driving
through one small village, you reached the Champ Dollon prison and then come to
the French border crossing into Ambilly a town bordering Annemasse. But if you
turn left there are small roads that enabled you to double back, circle the
Cologny Golf course and come back to the Castle. Victor wanted to see if he
lost the blue Alfa what were they going to do? Did they know his office address?
So down shifting he came upon the roundabout and made a hard right almost
clipping a wall that crowded the sidewalk. Both were equally small and powerful
cars but the Lancia was unbeatable with its supercharged engine, being a
four-wheel drive it gripped the road better and adhered to curves better than a
regular front or back wheel drive! Accelerating on the small roads Victor saw
the fixed radar some three hundred meters away, he immediately down shifted and
lightly braked with his hand brakes without ever tapping his foot brakes, the
ground gained before through the turning and twisting roads was quickly eaten
up. The Alfa almost rear-ended the Lancia, which was now crawling at 40 km/h
compared to the earlier speed of over a 100km/h, masking the view of the fixed
radar, Victor suddenly floored it and veered into the drive way of a house. The
Lancia almost tipped over and Victor had to literally stand on the brakes to
stop the car from entering the house at the end of the driveway. Fortunately
for him there was nobody at the house, no children playing, it was school time
anyway, and no cars parked in the driveway. As soon as the car stopped, Victor
put it in reverse and came back on the road.
